Description

gloriaxv-startGloria, for chorus organ and harp, was written in 1998 and named the winner of the 2000 AGO/ECS Publishing Award in Choral Composition.  The piece is a setting of the original Gloria, in Latin, from the Catholic mass, though the music is less intended for liturgical use and more for concert presentation.  The chorus undergoes a number of textural shifts over time, from unison singing, to chorale textures, to fugato passages, even making use of solo singers at key points.  The music was also designed to highlight the organ, and there are a couple of short cadenzas that surround the central slow section.

Score and parts to Gloria are available from Ione Press, a division of ECS Publishing (EC.5420).
Persons interested in hearing a recording may contact the composer directly.
